On Sustainable Production of CaCO3 via Monohydrocalcite—A Carbon Capture and Mineralisation Product from Waste Brines

This study investigated the conversion of monohydrocalcite (MHC) to anhydrous calcium carbonate. The primary material, MHC, was produced from waste brines containing Ca and Mg ions, reacted with sodium carbonate, which may serve in carbon capture mineralisation approach. Two different approaches were studied: 1) MHC carbonates air (under ambient conditions); 2) identification conditions could be adapted for potential industrial application. former focused on effects synthesis system material aragonite process resulting morphology, whereas latter covered factors that accelerate influence morphology. paper also discusses instances where converts more stable polymorph, calcite. It found leading polymorphic morphological selection converted minerals temperature humidity dependant.
